Where to start with the New Zealand shooting
When I woke to the horrible story of the shooting in New Zealand this morning, there was a flash of sorrow for the human tragedy.
Then I read more news, including the extremist idiot’s manifesto and how it referenced all-too-familiar talking points from America’s Far Right like the 2nd Amendment and stories of how “They’re gonna take our guns!”
That caused a wave of rage in me, that my country, its corporate media, and my president are adding to the weight of this virulent hatred and violence. I don’t know how to stop it, and it hurts and burns.
But getting angry at anger, even stupid anger like this crap cricket of a human, may not be the best response. I never know.
But then I saw this, posted by a New Zealand friend. And it feels right. This is where we should start.
This is exactly how Jacinta Ardern approached it.

She is deeply inspiring. Can we have a copy of her?

Australia wants a copy of her too.

Indeed. Are you higher up the list than us by virtue of proximity, or are we further up by virtue of an emotionally, psychologically, and morally unstable leader? (The questions I never thought I’d have to ask…)

Under the circumstances, i think you’d be higher up the list. Certainly needier.
