Romania, Day by Day
Hello fellow travelers and curious minds. When I tell people I lead a small-group tour of Romania I am often met by blank looks. The honest will admit “I don’t know anything about that country” while their more cynical cousins might say “Romania? What is there to see in Romania?”

It’s a 13 day tour and we come nowhere close to a comprehensive answer to that question, but as a beginning, I’m going to post one aspect of each day of the tour. I did a similar thing with Rick Steves’ Best of Europe in 21 Days a few years ago, and a trek in Kyrgyzstan more recently and I think it’s a nice way to take a virtual intro of what’s on offer.
Appropriately enough, I’ll be back on another of those 21-day tours by the time the series finishes, but I’ll try to have everything scheduled before I get eaten by that marathon. If not, I’ll finish it when I come up for air after the season ends in late October.
Happy travels, virtual or physical.

If you need any tips for Romania, I will be happy to help! I was born in the Bucovina area so, I know quite a bit. 4 things I wouldn;t miss out, the Egg Museum in Vama, Hanul Pastravarului the restaurant, Pietrele Doamnei up Rarau mountain and Voronet Monastery (or any other painted monastery)

Hi Stefan,
Those are great suggestions. We enjoyed an egg museum and two of the painted monasteries, and next time I’ll check out Pietrele Doamnei too. Multumesc!

I took my girlfriend for the first time to my home town and there are so many things to see. We stayed for 8 days, and we still haven’t seen all the things that I wanted to show her. Also we like hiking and eating so there were plenty of spots to explore!
